Features
Versatile perennial herb. The hollow stems smell and taste like celery with a nutty overtone. Yellow flowers emerge in summer and can be quite showy.
Uses
Use fresh or dried leaves with salads, potatoes, or any dish that calls for celery leaves. Lovage has a much stronger flavour than celery, so use with restraint. Dried seeds may be used in place of celery seeds.
Care
Best in fertile, well-drained soil. Keep soil moist, watering freely in dry weather. Pick outer leaves any time. Allow seed to ripen on the plant.
